Story Time...

Humans are naturally born with a balanced relationship to food.
Our bodies are incredibly wise—they instinctively know what they need to stay
healthy and fit. But along the way, we unlearn this. We become conditioned to eat
unnaturally, turning food into a tool for emotional regulation (soothing sadness, stress,
or boredom) or as a reward for being "good."

It’s a toxic relationship, plagued by guilt, frustration, and love. It’s often
accompanied by restrictions, obsessions, or fears of gaining weight.

We no longer listen to our body's wisdom; instead,
we listen to our mind-thinking it knows best.

There is no need for discipline when you eat intuitively.

To many people's surprise, many actually lose weight naturally, gain more vitality,
and become healthier—all while eating what they crave, when they crave it.
I know it sounds unbelievable, but it’s true.
I can personally vouch for it...

You learn to discover personalized tools and gentle techniques to truly care for
your emotional needs—without using food as a substitute or reward. You begin soothing
yourself in ways that genuinely nourish your whole being. Over time, this kind of self-care
becomes far more effective and fulfilling than reaching for food ever was

No one in my family regulated my meals in any way. I often heard my parents talk about how important it is to be slim, but no one actually monitored me when I was bored and lonely, eating five bowls of chocolate cereal for breakfast. So I got used to eating what I wanted whenever I wanted.

When I was a child, that didn't really seem to affect me because I had a fast metabolism. But then puberty hit.
Oh, and it hit hard. Suddenly, those five bowls of cereal turned into kilos of fat on my body rather than energy I could burn off running around in circles in the garden. The kilos kept piling on, and my self-esteem got worse.

As I remembered from my conditioning: being slim = being lovable. So I realised I had to do something about it. So like most people, I started reading and learning about diets and restrictions. I got into excessive exercise and was constantly monitoring and critiquing myself. I also read on some very questionable forums that the best way to lose weight was to either not eat or throw up.

This began what one would probably define as an eating disorder. My unhealthy relationship with food lasted for 12 whole years. Suffice to say, food ruled my life. I couldn't go out with friends, because I had used up my calories for the day. I smoked to numb my hunger. I weighed my food—and myself—excessively. I couldn't
imagine a day where I wasn’t constantly thinking about my weight and food.

Sure, there is more to this story than just your "traditional unhealthy relationship with food". I was obviously battling with some serious self-worth, confidence and mental health issues. But lets stay with the relationship to food... how did I get myself out of that mess?! You guessed it,
I discovered Intuitive Eating.

It changed my life and was the start of my healing journey.... and it could also be the start of yours.

"I can't do intuitive eating! I would just eat way too much. I would get fat. I don't have the discipline for that".

A lot of people think this and
of course, I understand this thought, I used to have the same. But the truth is when you really just learn to trust the cues of your body and don't restrict yourself anymore, you will not crave food anymore in that way. You're body naturally knows whats good for it and what it needs. No "discipline" is needed. We need to learn to trust in ourselves and our innate wisdom again.
